<React.js - let’s make development fun again />

So you've decided to take part in the Reactive conference, but need to brush up on your React knowledge beforehand. Join our workshop to be fully prepared for everything the conference can throw at you!

React is a Javascript library for creating reactive user interfaces. Initially open sourced by Facebook and then maintained by the community. React is often referred to as the V in MVC but it’s principles are different from what you’re probably used to when developing apps with other mainstream frameworks such as Angular or Ember. Single app store and Flux? Why do we have to dispatch the action? You have probably run into questions like these already. Don’t be put off - we’ve got you covered!

During the 6 hour workshop we will teach you everything you need to know before attending the conference as well as taking your React development to the next level. You'll be able to choose the topics you are interested in via an anonymous survey, which we will send out in the next few days. If you want to cover anything we didn’t mention then let us know. We want to tailor the workshop so that you get the most out of it for your specific needs.

Here are some of the topics that we will be covering:

  • React.js ecosystem
  • Components and its lifecycles
  • Flux, Redux and how to think about application architecture
  • Functional approach with immutable data structures
  • Dev tools and how to set up your own go-to dev stack
  • How to take full advantage of Babel and new EcmaScript features
  • Design patterns and best practices
  • How to write tests and what TDD is all about
  • Routing all the way down with React Router

With everything that comes along with React such as the virtual dom, server-side rendering, pure stateless components, it’s easy to get lost quickly. Therefore it’s so important to know your tools and always get the maximum performance out of your code. We can’t wait to share with you all the things we’ve learnt during our journey with React through production apps we have written. Come and join us and let’s make the web a better place!
